On a scale of 1 a 5, I take note 3 to this book. I liked him in spite of that note, I explain over why post this note median. Work 4 Hours per week, de Timithy Ferriss, is the translation of the book The 4-hour Workweek, this author that managed to achieve financial independence with a good idea and struggled to develop a business that would meet your goal: “Have money to enjoy life your way”.
This book chronicles some of the author's life, Timithy Ferriss, on his way to open his own business and then automate it to save time and do all the things he loves most, are, short, learn martial arts and travel the world. Of course he can not get that from a sudden. Before he battled enough to achieve this goal win.
The book is good because it gives some valuable tips about human behavior, the social rule predefined study, work, have children, retire and die and how to escape it to better enjoy life, yes working, but focusing on activities that will give you more pleasure. Working as a home-office, take mini-retirements 3, 6, 12 months or more, travel the world, meet new cultures and languages and stay productive at work. These are some ideas explained in the book that can become reality if you follow some rules. These are told in the book and, if you can perform them, yeah think I can reach the goal proposed in the book, which is less work, increase the amount of money you earn, and focus on other things that is most important.
The book proposes some exercises as: eye contact with strangers on the street, lie on the floor in the middle of a crowd without explanation, ask the phone from someone of the opposite sex, same as being married, among others, for the simple reason us out of our comfort zone. I confess I did not do many of the exercises, but at least I found interesting, it really let me very uncomfortable if made! ;)
Jokes aside, There are valuable tips on designing products, marketing, Sales, pricing, suppliers and how to work with people who can help you make some less important tasks. Some still do not know Pareto principle and the author comments that solved many of their problems (80%) attacking you most hindered (20%), eliminating hours answering emails unimportant, or serving customers that generated more problems than revenue. This is a great passage in the book that is worth reflection. The author gets to affirm that, currently, consult your inbox emails only once a week. No Leo Babaute, in his book As for Less Best, achieve such feat!!!
As the author is American, many tips are sites, American businesses and services, some Indian, but access virtually impossible for many of us Brazilians. That part I found the book to be a sin, it is as if in such a sweet and then take off, a turning of pages. Tips like personal assistants and American Indians, who work by the hour and can solve problems like: send flowers to girlfriend or hire a manager for a new business. I know this type of service or company with this focus on Brazil and, therefore, gives a bit of frustration in this passage from the book.
As a general rule, Work 4 Hours per Week is a book you should read yes. Despite the warning on the cover be “Attention! Do not read this book unless you want to quit your job”, I recommend reading to open their horizons and, who knows, improve productivity in your current job.
If I'm going to stay in my job!?? Yes, yes. But I have plans…
This was an indication of my good friend Helena Alves and I can tell you that this book stirs with his head. Messed with my friend and let good thoughts in my.
Now, Note that by 3? I finished reading a bit of the feeling of having read something written just to give money for the author, it is the junction of a desire of mankind translated a great title. Would if I write something like “Living without working” or “I found that looking Paz” or “The Shortcut to Happiness” 'll also earn as much money as Timothy Ferriss? Will!?
I believe it would be possible to use the teachings of the free in our realities and proportions, I have a small engineering company, I put my activities to employees who earn by commission and I have time to open another business and feel useful and with the possibility of increasing my income, something I had no idea of doing before the book, I think the book is more valid for those who already have their own business than for those who want to start or are employed.
Enjoyed the blog comment.
Not, Bruno. I assure you that you will not earn as much as Tim Ferriss. Firstly, one of the things that gave Tim was successfully defy your comfort zone, and you committed the mistake that people make ALL: “I confess I did not do many of the exercises, but at least I found interesting, it really let me very uncomfortable if made! ”
It is, we all know it, or they were not challenges! But from theory to practice goes a long way.
I also made that mistake, and were accurate 2 years studying and refuting the book to finally start to follow him like a workbook for my life. When I read the book was just watching the movie, but now I'm really doing everything, I am part of the movie! It's a completely different experience.
“As the author is American, many tips are sites, American businesses and services, some Indian, but access virtually impossible for many of us Brazilians.”
Well, only that it is virtually impossible to ever tried, some? Took many weeks to do research on this subject, to reach such a conclusion?
In my opinion, this book is useless to read, although alluring and interesting. It is only useful if you apply what you read, and we all know that we would rather complain about the external factors that we take the reins of our lives and define their direction!
