Haul a question here: after certification Project Management Professional (PMP), what the next will become mandatory for the project manager?
We all know that a mere set of three letters, which has no repeats the first creativity (PMP), already become mandatory item on the resume of anyone pursuing a career as a project manager. I know that many will say that what matters is the experience, the experience, the senioridade, but if I were in a paper recruiter, pick it all there too, but if it comes stamped with the seal PMP would be even better. Or, reflecting a low, if we need someone not so experienced so, to conduct a project not so great, even this situation, still choose the curriculum with PMP certification.
I wrote all this because today the PMP certification has become mandatory item in the curriculum of a project manager. I would be here writing lines and lines detailing the advantages of being a PMP, to join the PMI, to grow with the volunteer, but this would avoid the focus of this post.
What I know now is what the next certification will also be required?
Today PMI has the following options:
- Program Management Professional (PgMP)®
- PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)SM
- PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)®
- PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)®
*The CAPM certification® was purposefully removed from the list above.
I honestly bet the PMI-ACPSM, because I see more and more the need to deliver more in less time, of the processes become more dynamic, to achieve goals faster, to be ever more productive and less resources.
And you, have another opinion? Share with me this vision.
Thank you for sharing
Hello,
Personal experience. Then I went to the PMP PgMP.
Thereafter ITIL and COBIT.
If I were to start all over again….do zero…British approach would focus on (AXELOS)
PRINCE2® – projects
M_o_R® – risks
MSP® – programs
MoP® – portfolios
MOV® – value management
P3O® – office portfolio, program and projects

Got here by Google. I just took my PMP certification and I'm researching what the next step! At the time I thought of treating some gaps: I'll take the ITIL certification, Next year I intend to revisit the English (usually a vague asking PMP asks fluent English in my research).
I also have certification in Project 2013 and PRINCE2. Regarding the article topic, today, in 2014, I think apart from these we have to have certifications from other areas who value more, como Green Belt, Prince2, scrum, to have insight into other methodologies. I think if it were to focus only on having all the PMI I might end up with a more restricted view, focused only on the PMI developed…
In the most, congratulations for the site! It is the first time I get it in my searches :)
Oi Bruno,
Turning around and returning the visit to gerentedeprojeto.net.br. Thanks too!
Good, I am biased. Fiz AS 3 main PMI certifications hitherto (PMP, PMI-RMP, PMI-SP e). The ACP interests me a lot, but I confess that I have not had direct contact with her about to give an opinion about.
Of the three above, I can tell you that the RMP is growing too. See the work PMI Numbers I develop and observe trends.

Proportionally, RIF is the most have certificates in Brazil compared to the World.
Another growing well is the PgMP (Programs).
I bet big on the SMR.
Big hug and let exchanging ideas.
Hello Alexandre!
Your Blog is very good! Put to favorites!!!
About certifications, I think the PMI-RMP certification is even more recognized after the PMP, but I think it still is not a certification cutting analysis of curricula.
Today companies have no longer accept resumes that are not PMP, something not observed with PMI-RMP.
I thought of the ACP as a certification of the future, especially in the field of IT, but it is all supposition.
But thanks for your visit and comment. Continue with your blog that is doing a very good job!!!!
Abs.!
