The Epoch 732, of 28.05.2012 , published a very interesting subject in his column LIFE. An article / guide encouraging reading of books Classics. Should have received this title for, despite the long been written, still remain well current.
The coolest part of this issue were categories created by Time magazine to sort your list of nominees (To start, I want more and Challenges). In category “To start” eg, have “The thousand and one nights” (unknown authors) and “Gabriela, Clove and Cinnamon” of Jorge Amado. “Don Quixote” of Miguel de Cervantes and “Sun Casmurro” of Machado de Assis listed in Category “I want more”. In category “Challenges”, where the reader can finish reading the books are myths worthy of trophies, are “Moby Dick” of Herman Melville, “Great backcountry: sidewalks” of João Guimarães Rosa and “The sound and the fury” of William Faulkner.
The magazine suggested “Crime and punishment“, of Fiodor Dostoiévski, the category “I want more” and not the “Challenges”. Everyone misses right? :)
In addition to the categories, matter organized chronologically by publication date list indicated. The layout of the page was also very cool.
There is a hint to start reading books. Not yet read most of the books listed, but that does not mean I will read in the future. Keep as a reference, to guide me as a compass in my next literary adventures.
The important thing is to get the pleasure of reading. No matter the beginning, it can be with “Creúsculo” Stephenie Meyer or Harry Potter the J. K. Rowlling . One day you might end up discussing Camões with friends…
