Root IE7 – 0x0eedfade – QUICKfind

Was a good time with a very strange error in my Internet Explorer 7 (IE7), who simply had an error window when accessing pages that had AJAX (XMLHttpRequest) such as my website or brunocunha.com firjan.org.br.

Both sites use the Prototype framework (prototype.js) to work with AJAX functionality.

Searching far by Google, catching the exception of the error code (0x0eedfade), finally got to the cause of the problem. This happens probably an Add Internet Explorer corrupted. In my case, the complement “QUICKfind BHO Object” (Browser helper object) (Iehelp.dll) was the cause of the problem. All it took was going into Internet Options => Programs => Manage Addons and disable this add to the problem no longer occurs.

If this problem is also happening to you, go try disabling add-ons to see if Helpers back to work.

To solve the problem, follow the prompts page's own Cambridge: QUICKfind stops working when you upgrade Internet Explorer and/or Word. There has to update Quickfind that will end this problem.
