The title of this post may seem sensationalist, seems that is wanting to cause trouble with the pro-Apple, but I have to report here why I chose this product from Amazon's epic battle Kindle vs iPad.
I am passionate about technology, a # NERD assumed, but I have my feet on the ground and always thought that the news of the tech world must be used to meet the needs of the user and not the futile purpose of social advancement. Explain. Many people buy the latest handset launched, despite having a device from the previous version, the same manufacturer, just to show your social network who was the first to have the new product. Dislike this kind of posture, as a device youngest not necessarily going to be much better than your current. This is the result of the consumerist world we're living in.
Speaking of mobile device, My first smartphone was an iPhone 3GS, the most advanced handset and best of the season. I bought because it was the best, I did not have a Smartphone, and it would solve many problems such as mobility, Internet movel, MP3 Player, in other words, all problems are solved by a device of this category. After years of good use, I decided it was time to replace it, it was getting a little slow, the home button a bit hard and my wife needed a new phone (new to her at least). The only doubt was that tive: iPhone 5 ou iPhone 4S, where to buy? I bought the iPhone 4S, because it was cheaper and would supply all my needs.
Mas entre Kindle vs iPad, because I chose the Kindle?
I am a fanatic fan of Apple and grace to all books A Biografie de Steve Jobs and The head of Steve Jobs I showed the passion that Steve Jobs was dedicated in creating their products. I have no doubt in saying that the iPad is the best tablet today (#CriandoPolêmica), but again have to put your foot down and analyze the actual use of a device like this in my day-to-day.
To clarify this battle, I'm comparing a Kindle Paperwhite against an iPad Retina, also known as iPad 4. These two units belonging to two different categories. The Paperwhite Kindle is not a tablet. He is considered a Electronic Reader (e-book) and, hence, not have the same purpose iPad, um Tablet.
An Electronic Reader aims to make the experience more comfortable for reading electronic books, because it has a technology called e-Ink (electronic paper) where the screen does not have lighting in the background as happens in LED screens. This technology allows the user to read for several minutes without eyestrain.
Of course many will say they read for hours and hours on their iPads, their views without tire, but either are not or are people actually reading quite resistant, therefore resist the excuse that insomnia is caused by problems at work. Doubt? Read then matter read e-books on the iPad before bedtime can cause insomnia.
I dream of having an iPad just for me, just to tell everybody that I have the latest release of the market, but unfortunately I have not found an excuse for what I need it will meet.
I was one of the first to buy a netbook Brazil (Meu EEE PC 1002HA Chegou!!!), when I was still in college, at a time when the term netbook was not yet known in Brazil, that could help me in daily work and research monograph. I paid a little expensive at the time, buying the netbook in the U.S. and asking to deliver it in Brazil, but my mobility requirement would not be met by an ordinary notebook.
What is my current need?
Then, Andes to decide what to buy, first have to define what we currently have a need to see the market if technology exists to meet it. My current needs are:
- Read electronic books anywhere: na fila do banco, waiting on the medical consultation, on the bus and at home;
- Being lightweight and does not make a lot of volume in the bag;
- That does not leave me scared to use it in public places: cafeterias, squares, bus, trem your metro; and, mainly:
- That gives the best and most comfortable reading experience.
I know a long time that the correct choice should be an e-reader. I even wrote in May 2008 a post about this new technology electronic reader, then a Sony Reader PRS-505, showing the advantages of this screen that looks like a plain paper, but I struggled a lot with the side fan fanatic Apple not to buy an iPad.
Now is already decided. The choice is Kindle Paperwhite Amazon and the iPad, if one day realize some need him, be very welcome.
OBS: Currently, my needs, that could be served by the iPad, those are already on my iPhone 4s and my super notebook.
And you, has a different? Also buy an e-book reader or even a Tablet? Leave your comments below.
I have both, one for books and one for comics.
Olá Bruno, I know the topic is old but I decided to expose here my experience as when reading your story got a Kindle Paperwhite and could make an important statement: no accounting for taste. I am Ipad user and when the Kindle came with its tiny screen 6″ already I returned the same way he came. I could test 2 devices side by side on my site reading and clearly chose to read the Ipad, to have larger screen, better resolution and in the category lighting the light of kindle is the same as the tablet. I did a test with the dark room and use as a supposed “flashlight” both the Kindle and iPad lit Similarly Room. In other words, with the evolution of the iPad I did not see any advantage in the Kindle and sincerely do not understand why everyone just praise the device, so I decided to post my experience. Hug to everyone.

Olá Bruno! I have the same story as u! I had a wonderful 3GS (my wife inherited) bought a 4s when the 5 was already available and own a paperwhite, it might have been thought by the jobs which is so fantastic!! I had two seizures this year: compose or not an air ipad ? Trade My 4s for 5s? As the 4s has an extremely satisfactory yield, the decision ended up going to the side of moral: I make such acquisitions, without even really need? I ended up deciding to stay with my great 4s 32 gb and decided that I do not use an ipad p! At the end, I intend to purchase a macbook power to stop cursing Windows! Your post was great! Daniel Hug
I have a certain aversion to gadgets “do everything”. I enjoy technology and the use. But listening to music at home must be a stereo. Na rua no iPod. To photograph (something too short) has to be a camera. I have a desktop and a notebook. Just bought the note to use it on trips, because the desktop is better at everything, besides having a monitor 22 high definition images to work. Sincerely, I do not see much use on a tablet. And to read, clear, um Kindle (Your Kobo…).
É Wilson, quite agree with you. This business of having a knife-with-LCD-screen-Wi-Fi-13MPx-MP3-who-also-makes-me coffee is not.
Moreover, use technology to meet a need. Use anything just to get status.
As you, I do not see now the need of having a tablet. if you need some day, to buy, but, per hour, my smartphone and my Kindle are helping me perfectly.
Thanks for visiting the blog!

Bruno,
I see you really took your choice seriously, based on your needs. I'm sure that for what you need, Kindle Paperwhite serve you well.
I bought an iPad as soon as it was released, want something more portable than the notebook but slightly larger than the iPhone. I started using the Kindle app on it, but when I thrilled with a book and spent a while reading, My views were troubled, then I had to stop. On a trip to the United States, I ended up buying a Kindle Keyboard 3G, further to see if this was indeed true point not bother to view, and I was very satisfied. Nowadays I can read for hours, if I want to, without my eyes bother me as before. To give you an idea, my “marathon” most recently read the Hunger Games trilogy / Hunger Games in four days. You can not do this on a LCD / LED.
Congratulations on your choice and the post.
A big hug!
Hello Cris, thanks for visiting!
I'm really loving the Kindle Paperwhite and for my needs but I believe it was the best choice.
I am not a reader so much you Voras, that has just a trilogy in four days, but like, when I have time, to spend hours reading a good book and, a LCD / LED that is not so comfortable.
I'm going back to your blog more often to scour more content, it seemed interesting.
Abs!
Parent tree not “grassas”.
To read not! Already corrected! Herrar is Umano! ;)
